A REVIEW FOR THE UPCOMING J.TEX & THE VOLUNTEERS ALBUM

From Americana Music France

A qoute:
“The last album I played was the one by J; Tex and the Volunteers. What happened next that it got me completely out of my concentration, and that I had trouble finishing cleaning the last chicken. I even put it down, wiped my hands and picked up my guitar to figure out some of the details on chords and constructions and such.

What can i say. How do i explain this album? Try to imagin putting the Reverend Horton Heat, Tom Waits, Southern Culture on the Skids and Giora Feidman in a studio and ask them to write some songs. That’s what it is about, well.., almost anyway…

Blues chords, a straight up bass going swaying from jazz to a waltz to rockabilly lines, and a clarinet. And on top of that a very nice and smooth distorted voice with I don’t know-what-kind-of-gadget. I don’t know all the discs J. Tex & the Volunteers made. This evening I listenes to some of their tunes. So I will hold back on evolution-analyses and such. But what I do know is that I really thank this Danish band for sending me the disc. Because this will will stay with me. Close to me. And not just when i’m killing chicken.”
